The Keliki style of painting is a continuation of the Pitamaha painting, which is better known as the Ubud style of painting. Its presence is also a result of the growing demands of tourism in Bali. The Keliki style of painting adopts various traditional Balinese painting styles such as Ubud and Batuan styles.
In terms of themes, it reveals the themes of daily life, including the atmosphere of ceremonies, markets, the lives of farmers, fishermen, arts and so on.

The technique applied is a wet technique with watercolors on canvas or paper following the process of creating traditional Balinese painting. Meanwhile, in terms of size, Keliki’s style of painting is relatively small in size, or often called mini or postcard paintings, which are the hallmark of this painting.

The Keliki style of painting was created as a product of popular culture, because it is mass produced to fulfill orders, so that the aesthetic content in it follows the tastes of the tourism market. Thus the existence of popular painting in the Keliki style is highly dependent on tourism, which is currently in an ups and downs condition.
